Art History - Coloring Octopus
- On 4th of July, Christoph me and Subhadra went to Shoreline park for viewing Fireworks.
- When I lied down on the grass because back started aching from sitting for long time, I noticed the mountain peaks and the color of the sky
- This was after sunset
- It was Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red and the same sequence of colors repeated in reverse order.
- I felt like capturing it - can anything capture that? I couldn't stop staring at it, it was admirable natural beauty
- The colors were blended so seamlessly with their neighbors
- That's why I chose the gradient of colors
When I visited Chicago with Christoph's sister Alexa - who was our tour guide for the day, because of extreme heat outside, and Christoph and Alexa's love for art, we decided to visit the Art Institute of Chicago. I had never seen anything like the art there before. I had heard of the great artist Vincent Van Gogh and seen some of his art online/ in digital images, but when I saw the original painting - the Self Portrait, I couldn't stop noticing the details that went into the art. Learned about the technique of pointilism and wanted to replicate it. First I started with a small area - the sea grass, then when it looked really good and was also validated by Christoph, I decided to use pointilism for the background of the Octopus too.
